Lunar New Year Reception Brings Together Communities at Toronto City Hall
Toronto, ON – January 30, 2025 – The Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto (CCCGT) proudly co-hosts the Lunar New Year Reception with Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow at the Rotunda of Toronto City Hall. This marks the first collaboration between CCCGT and the City of Toronto, celebrating the traditions of Lunar New Year and fostering unity among leaders from Toronto’s diverse communities: Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and other East and Southeast Asian communities.
The event brings together an esteemed group of guests, including Members of Parliament (MPs), Members of Provincial Parliament (MPPs), Toronto City Councillors, the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Toronto, Director of Hong Kong Economics and Trade Office, Hon. Victor Oh, CCCGT Directors and Ambassadors.
Mayor Olivia Chow:
“I’m delighted to celebrate the Lunar New Year with communities all across the city”, said Olivia Chow, Mayor of Toronto. “The year of the Snake represents transformation and growth. Together, we can build a more caring, welcoming, and affordable city. We can transform it together. And make it a place where everyone belongs.”
CCCGT Chairman, Alan Lam, highlighted the Centre’s dedication to cultural preservation and community engagement:
“CCCGT is committed to preserving heritage, embracing diversity, and nurturing friendships. As we celebrate the Lunar New Year, we are thrilled to announce the groundbreaking of the CCC Garden in 2025—a space that will symbolize cultural harmony and community spirit.”
This celebration features traditional performances, including a lion dance, Chinese musical instrument performance, a child singing a traditional Chinese song, and community engagement, which underscores Toronto’s multicultural strength. The collaboration between CCCGT and the City of Toronto demonstrates a shared commitment to fostering cultural understanding and strengthening social connections.

大多倫多中華文化中心與多倫多市長共同舉辦農曆新年招待會
安省多倫多 – 2025年1月30日 – 大多倫多中華文化中心(CCCGT)與多倫多市長鄒至蕙在多倫多市政廳共同舉辦農曆新年招待會。這是大多倫多中華文化中心與多倫多市政府首次合作慶祝農曆新年,並促進多倫多不同社區領袖之間的團結,包括華人、韓國人、越南人以及其他東亞和東南亞社區。
是次活動匯聚了一眾尊貴嘉賓,包括國會議員、省議會議員、多倫多市議員、中華人民共和國駐多倫多總領事、香港駐多倫多經濟貿易辦事處處長、前聯邦參議員胡子修、大多倫多中華文化中心的董事及大使。
市長鄒至蕙表示:
「我很高興能與多倫多各社區一同慶祝農曆新年。蛇年象徵轉變和成長。我們可以携手建立一個更關懷、更包容和更可負擔的城市。我們可以一起改變多倫多,讓它成為每個人的歸屬。」
大多倫多中華文化中心林樹田主席強調中心致力於文化傳承和社區參與:
「中華文化中心致力傳承文化遺產、擁抱多元文化及孕育友誼。在慶祝農曆新年之際,我們很高興宣佈中華文化中心花園——一個象徵文化和諧與社區精神的空間,將於2025年動工。」
本次慶祝活動有各項傳統表演,包括舞獅、中樂表演、兒童演唱傳統中國節慶歌曲,並得到社區各界參與,展示了多倫多的多元文化實力。大多倫多中華文化中心與多倫多市政府的合作展現了雙方對促進文化理解和加強社會聯繫的共同承諾。
